Ville Saint-Laurent

«This street is named after an old Saint-Laurent family.  A natif of Aubigny in Poitou, France, Pierre Gougeon arrived in Canada in the late 17th century.  Many of his descendants subsequently settled on Cà´te Saint-Laurent and Cà´te Notre-Dame-de-Liesse.

A few of them became prominent on the municipal scene.  Benjamin Gougeonn was a Saint-Laurent Parish alderman from 1864 to 1866, as was his son Maximin from 1908 to 1911..

Joseph Gougeon, a funeral director, was president of the Saint-Laurent School Commission from 1939 to 1942.»

Gougeon Street was named July 12th 1988.
